Revealed: The Fiercely Heterosexual Cory Booker Went on a Blind Date With Katie Couric, 13 Years His Senior, Which Did Not End In a Kiss

—Ace of Spades

This is totally not some kind of PR-arranged beard date, this is real!

During a Wednesday appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Katie Couric revealed that "a long time ago" she and the New Jersey politician went on a blind date together at a New York Giants game.

"Wow, this just in!" she playfully exclaimed as the audience reacted with surprise.

"He was really nice," Couric, 62, said of Booker, 49.

"Did we kiss?" she said. "No, we did not kiss."

Oh, this "date" happened at a highly public event (a Giants game) which is certain to get photographed and publicized all over the tabloids?

70,000 live witnesses, millions of tv witnesses if the cameras broadcast a shot of the couple? And a division of professional photographers armed with a mile of film?

Yeah, that's usually the sort of blind dates I go on, too.

Also, single eligible men always date women who are very nearly old enough to be their mothers, or at least their a-few-years-younger-than-mother aunt.

Coming Soon: The Fiercely Heterosexual Cory Booker's little black book is filled with the names of famous female conquests, like Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Manelli and Cher and Mae West.

Best Week Ever.

CNN complains that Tucker Carlson's wonderful gesture of sending Brian "Butterball Powerbottom" Stelter a dozen jelly donuts is "fat shaming."

Wait -- fat shaming? I don't understand. In all the pictures from seven this journalist uses to represent himself, he's only mildly overweight, not obese.

So how could this be fat shaming?

CNN's Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter recently received a scrumptious box of jelly donuts from Dunkin' Donuts from Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson. Still no thank you. But "sources in the CNN camp" told the New York Post‘s Page Six that they believed Carlson’s gift was an act of "fat-shaming."

...

"Such bitches," remarked a Mirror spy observing the situation. "He gets a dozen free donuts and somehow he's the victim?"

Stelter, who has ballooned a little in recent years (but certainly not back to his post-200 pound weight), blew off The Mirror's request for comment Friday....

"Nobody plays the victim card better," noted a longtime media industry insider. "He can, without evidence, repeatedly question Trump's mental health but can’t handle receiving a box of donuts."

Yeah, and on that point: Brian "Fat Joker" Stelter is now chiding the media about indulging in too much speculation.

Which media could he mean? People other than himself?

Check out the Mark Dice parody of Brian "Tater" Stelter. Dice is subbing the voice but these are Little Brian Bigbottom's real words.

He repeatedly speculates -- nay, accuses -- the president of being mentally unfit, of having an "illness," of being an agent of Russia.

Which media, exactly, does he think he's in a position to criticize for their indulgence of speculation, conspiracy theories, fact-free allegations, and blurring the already very blurred (largely by people like Tater) line between reporting and opinion early-days-of-blogging-straight-up-ranting?

I'd like him to name names as to who he thinks is a less responsible "journalist" on cable news -- or at CNN in particular. I don't know who's more irresponsible and conspiracy-peddling between him and Don Lemon.

British Government Quotes Bible to Prove Christianity Is Not a "Peaceful" Religion

—Ace of Spades

This story is about an asylum seeker from an Islamic country. He was formerly Muslim, he says, and converted to Christianity when he discovered Islam was a warlike religion. He became a Christian, he claims, because it's a peaceful religion.

As an apostate now, I guess he's seeking asylum due to religious persecution.

In arguing to deny his asylum application, the British government argued Christianity isn't peaceful so his request is ill-founded.

Britain's immigration department has been condemned for citing violent Bible passages as the basis to reject an asylum claim by an Iranian national who said he had converted to Christianity because it was a "peaceful" religion.

The Home Office -- which is responsible for handling immigration, security and law and order -- used verses from the books of Leviticus, Exodus and Revelation in an attempt to argue that Christianity was hardly "peaceful."

...

The case drew a rebuke from the Church of England, and immigration advocates denounced the decision as another example of the Home Office's harsh methods.

The man, who has not been identified and had converted from Islam, filed the claim in 2016, the immigration caseworker and legal representative, Nathan Stevens, wrote on Twitter. It was not clear whether the man had made his conversion a basis for his claim.

It's possible they only resorted to this argument because they had other evidence that this guy wasn't on the level and was just using a phony claim about conversion to gain sympathy and therefore entry into the UK.

But this is the UK. I think it's even more likely they were offended by the claim that Christianity is more peaceful than Islam, and really, seriously attempted to prove that this guy is guilty of WRONGTHINK and therefore not welcome in the UK.

BTW: If anyone can arrange a Contemptuous Intervention to get JackStraw off the reefer and get him to finally love something in this world besides his precious spleef, you'd be doing God's work.

BTW, a Contemptuous Intervention is like a tough love thing but without any love. It's basically just very personal, vicious bullying -- all criticism, no constructive elements -- combined with light kidnapping.

People pretend to care in a normal Intervention. In a Contemptuous Intervention, they're more honest, and very upfront about being there mostly for the after-party once the drop the dreg off at the clinic.

Jack, you don't need to waste your life sucking the Cartegena C**k. There are people who are close to you. I don't mean emotionally, I just mean they're physically nearby. You can go to them and ask them to berate you and tell you what a stoner cuckboy you are. I'm sure they've been wanting to cut loose for years.

You have so much to contribute to others. Chiefly your organs when you pass at an expectedly young age. Please don't dirty them up with your filthy drugging lifestyle and your frequent incidents of Survival Prostitution.

Please don't make young people who haven't made the tragic narcotic and sexual decisions you've made pay for your selfishness and your weakness as a man and that drip that just won't go away.

Get off the glass dick, get out of the shooting galleries, stop chasing the dragon and start living your life like it matters.

I mean it doesn't, but pretend. For other, worthier people's sake.

Oh My: Evidence Emerges That One Candidate Did Collude With a Foreign Slavic Nation -- Hillary Clinton

—Ace of Spades

John Solomon:

After nearly three years and millions of tax dollars, the Trump-Russia collusion probe is about to be resolved. Emerging in its place is newly unearthed evidence suggesting another foreign effort to influence the 2016 election -- this time, in favor of the Democrats.

Ukraine's top prosecutor divulged in an interview aired Wednesday on Hill.TV that he has opened an investigation into whether his country's law enforcement apparatus intentionally leaked financial records during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign about then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort in an effort to sway the election in favor of Hillary Clinton.

The leak of the so-called black ledger files to U.S. media prompted Manafort's resignation from the Trump campaign and gave rise to one of the key allegations in the Russia collusion probe that has dogged Trump for the last two and a half years.

Ukraine Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko's probe was prompted by a Ukrainian parliamentarian's release of a tape recording purporting to quote a top law enforcement official as saying his agency leaked the Manafort financial records to help Clinton's campaign.

I'm sure Fake Jake and the Gang Who Couldn't Report Straight will clamor for an FBI investigation, and maybe even a special counsel, to probe if there was any back-channel Collusion on this point.

What a Shock: Google Downplays Mueller Report, Does Not Suggest Links To It

—Ace of Spades

#MuhPrivateBusinessDecisions plus #MuhNeutralPlatformImmunity.

Google search is hiding auto-completed text related to the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

Mueller's investigation has finished with no further indictments, the culmination of a story that has dominated the news for the better part of two years. But the most popular search engine is avoiding the topic.

Using Google search on multiple browsers and on private-browsing mode, the Free Beacon found Google search had an aversion to the search term "indictment."

Using either "Trump" or "Mueller" as the subject, the following word "indictment" was not suggested even after spelling out most of it. For example, putting "Trump indi" into Google’s search bar does not lead to "Trump indictment" but rather to "Trump India," "Trump India Pakistan," Trump India tariffs," and "Trump Indiana."

Just as Google, FaceBook, and Twitter Banned Conspiracy Theorists Like Alex Jones, It's Now Time To Demand They Also Ban the Russia Collusion Conspiracy Theorists
SDNY Reading Charges Against Avenatti Within Minutes

—Ace of Spades

Unless they're partisan actors posing as neutral platforms, of course.

Just when you thought the media's credibility was hanging by a thread, along comes special counsel Robert Mueller's final report -- finding no Russia collusion with Trump's 2016 campaign, shredding all the conspiracy theories and false accusations to smithereens.

....

[S]ocial media networks didn’t hesitate to ban Alex Jones of Infowars and others for spreading misinformation and/or conspiracy theories, so why not ban House Majority Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Schiff, Eric Swalwell, John Brennan, Beto O'Rourke and scores of media hacks who’ve all done the same?

And what about Google? Will it continue to allow search results that yield now-debunked conspiracy theories surrounding Russian collusion and the Trump campaign? Or will they do the right thing and scrub misinformation and lies to stop the hoax from perpetuating?

Right-leaning news organizations should appoint their own Deplatforming Pressure Team -- just like CNN has with the troika of Oliver Darcy, BuzzFeed Andrew, and Brian Stelter --and begin demanding Equal Deplatforming for Equally Discredited Conspiracy Theories.

Via Instapundit, who als penned a new USAToday column on the Media Collusion Complex.

[The Russian Collusion Hoax] was always a crock, dreamed up immediately after Hillary Clinton’s election-night defeat by her staff to explain away failure. As reported in the campaign book "Shattered," by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, Clinton refused to take responsibility for her defeat, and the day after her concession, top officials gathered "to engineer the case that the election wasn't entirely on the up-and-up.… Already, Russian hacking was the centerpiece of the argument."

Though this was a matter of record -- the book was hardly obscure -- the news media chose to run with the Russia story, which quickly morphed from "hacking" to the more nebulous "collusion," quite credulously. They did so because they wanted it to be true, because they hoped it would hurt Trump, whom the press almost universally despises, and because it was good for ratings and clicks.

The irony, of course, is that while purporting to worry about Russian interference in American politics, by advancing this story the press was actually doing the work of President Vladimir Putin, sowing division and confusion through the American polity.

As former Clinton pollster Mark Penn tweeted, we wasted two years, at least $30 million and a lot of institutional credibility at the FBI and Department of Justice over "a false story of Russia collusion based on oppo research that was always unsubstantiated and preposterous."

By the way, note that the media bankrupted its credibility in the same way a business eventually begins fraudulent practices to avoid admitting its product is defective and that they're running out of money.

Compare to Theranos. There's a great documentary on HBO about it called "The Inventor," and a book I'm told is great called "Bad Blood."

Imagine a business putting out a faulty and dangerous product. They worry a little about the product's safety... but not too much.

First, they ignore signs that their fundamental business scheme -- their product -- is faulty. They don't want to think about it. Business is good... for now. No reason to worry about the future.

No reason to think about criminal fraud charges coming down the line.

Then, when outside observers start pointing out that their product is faulty, instead of examining their product and checking for defects, they instead start attacking their accusers. Kind of like firms like Fusion GPS are hired to smear critics of fraudulent companies.

Kind of like Theranos brought in high-paid lawyers to threaten whistleblowers and attempt to bankrupt them by constantly hailing them into court.

At this point they're not really lying, exactly. They're lying to themselves, sure. They're really just avoiding confronting the problem, and engaging in increasingly dirty and fraudulent tactics to avoid confronting the problem.

Smearing the critics, for example. Doubling down on past claims that their product is safe and effective.

Hey -- if you're on the side of the Angels, then you're allowed to utilize the tools of the Devil, right?

At some point, the evidence that they're selling a dangerous product and this might have serious legal consequences becomes something obvious to everyone--including themselves.

This is their last clear chance to avoid criminal behavior. This is their last chance to choose to live a noncriminal life.

But often, they don't.

A month or two ago, it was becoming clear -- through leaks to the media originating from Mueller's own team -- that there was no collusion case here.

The media could have taken that opportunity to examine its previous assumptions and re-evaluate the strength of their old "sources." They could have begun honestly reappraising the narrative they built.

Instead, they went the Theranos route -- they kept doubling down on a product they now knew was absolutely faulty and absolutely fraudulent. They kept selling it to the public, acting like people in any soon-to-be-bankrupt business -- dancing like crazy at the edge of a precipice hoping to just hang on to the edge.

The media has committed gross and wilfull fraud. They straight-up lied to America-- and not once or twice, but serially and constantly.

They lied as often as they claim Trump lies.

But their lies were good, you know.

If you're on the side of the Angels, you're allowed to utilize the tools of the Devil, right?

And now their fraud is exposed.

And like the sociopathic head of Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes, they now have to face their reckoning.

You can only dance on the edge of calamity for so long.

By the way, thanks to WeBoned!, here's Jerry Nadler being heckled.

Michael Avenatti Charged by Feds for Shakedown Extortion Against Nike
AND ALSO, Being Charged in California on Separate Wire Fraud Charges!

—Ace of Spades

Hmmm... who'd've thought that a woman who is either a blackmailer or someone staying juuuuuust on this side of the blackmail line would be attracted to a shakedown artist as a lawyer?

Disgraced philanderer Ryan Lizza tweeted something the other day like, "*pssst:* the real action has always been at the SDNY."

Well, Avenatti's being charged in the SDNY.

Come on -- aren't you getting a little tired of #Winning?

There'll be press conferences at 2 and 2:30 but I don't think the news can wait that long.

Hot Fire:

thanks to HA.

Wut? Avenatti's being charged by two different prosecutors for two different sets of crimes?

This might be about the allegations that he hid or misdirected his law firm's revenues to protect them from being seized when the firm broke up and/or went bankrupt.

But I don't know that; I'm guessing that just based on the venue (California) and the types of charges.

In the words of Don Trump Jr.: "If this is what you say it is, I love it!"

More: THIS DAMNABLE WINNING, WILL IT NEVER END AND LEAVE MY DICK IN PEACE?!!

Thanks again to Ha.

Comes a Reckoning

—Ace of Spades

The very the very very liberal, and very anti-Trump, Matt Taibbi writes that the the press has damaged its reputation far worse than its purported gullibility on WMDs in Iraq ever did. (Yes, I know this is kind of a silly premise, but this premise -- that the press was super-pro-Bush and eager to defer to him and invade Iraq -- is dear to leftwing hearts, so when they say this is even worse, it's a big deal.)

Nobody wants to hear this, but news that Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller is headed home without issuing new charges is a death-blow for the reputation of the American news media.

...

The Special Prosecutor literally became a religious figure during the last few years, with votive candles sold in his image and Saturday Night Live cast members singing "All I Want for Christmas is You" to him featuring the rhymey line: "Mueller please come through, because the only option is a coup."

...

For those anxious to keep the dream alive, the Times published its usual graphic of Trump-Russia "contacts," inviting readers to keep making connections. But in a separate piece by Peter Baker, the paper noted the Mueller news had dire consequences for the press:

It will be a reckoning for President Trump, to be sure, but also for Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel, for Congress, for Democrats, for Republicans, for the news media and, yes, for the system as a whole…

This is a damning page one admission by the Times. Despite the connect-the-dots graphic in its other story, and despite the astonishing, emotion-laden editorial the paper also ran suggesting "We don’t need to read the Mueller report" because we know Trump is guilty, Baker at least began the work of preparing Times readers for a hard question: "Have journalists connected too many dots that do not really add up?"

The paper was signaling it understood there would now be questions about whether or not news outlets like itself made galactic errors by betting heavily on a new, politicized approach, trying to be true to "history's judgment" on top of the hard-enough job of just being true....

Nothing Trump is accused of from now on by the press will be believed by huge chunks of the population, a group that (perhaps thanks to this story) is now larger than his original base. As Baker notes, a full 50.3% of respondents in a poll conducted this month said they agree with Trump the Mueller probe is a "witch hunt."

...

There was never real gray area here. Either Trump is a compromised foreign agent, or he isn't. If he isn't, news outlets once again swallowed a massive disinformation campaign, only this error is many orders of magnitude more stupid than any in the recent past, WMD included. Honest reporters like ABC’s Terry Moran understand: Mueller coming back empty-handed on collusion means a "reckoning for the media."

Of course, there won’t be such a reckoning. (There never is). But there should be. We broke every written and unwritten rule in pursuit of this story, starting with the prohibition on reporting things we can't confirm.

Say, wasn't that crazy Kool-Aid-drinking Trump Shill Mollie Hemingway writing about the media using unverified claims from anonymous sources (often single-sourced) a lot?

Well, that just proves she's crazy.

Speaking of, her husband Mark wants a specific reckoning on media's claims to be so important as to be above any criticism-- and the Dead Enders of anti-Trump "right" who echoed that.

While we're all dealing with the fallout from the Mueller report, let me get something off my chest: Of all the despicable things that happened in the last two years, I'm perhaps most galled by the constant refrain that the American media was this VITAL INSTITUTION currently manning the DMZ between American civilization and chaos, and as such had to be spared from any serious criticism at this time ("this time" being the dark age that descended immediately upon us when Hillary Clinton lost a free and fair election).

I heard this loudly from those on the right, as well as the left. Media criticism had been a significant portion of my work as a journalist, and this sudden and entirely unwarranted reverence for the media actually affected my career negatively because I didn't stop trying to point out that large swaths of the media were clearly acting unethical and irresponsible.

Meanwhile, mainstream journalists were taking talking points straight from the likes of liars such as Brennan and Clapper (and trying to intimidate critics behind the scenes -- I got a lovely personal story about that), claiming the Logan Act was a real thing that merited law enforcement investigation, lapping up self-serving leaks from a thoroughly corrupted FBI, and generally engaged malpractice and groupthink across the board. This may prove to be the most credibility damaging episode of the modern era.

But no! You can't dare criticize the media, even if you couch it in an acknowledgement of Trump's own issues with the truth and plead for a course correction instead of tearing the media down.

(Having ranted about all this personally, NOW IMAGINE WHAT MY WIFE ENDURED for being correct when everyone around her was wrong and extremely self-righteous about it.)

Everyone who said that the media are above criticism only made it so much worse. If you were worried that those nasty Trumpers would tear down the media two years ago, prepare to reap the whirlwind.

Speaking of, over at the Federalist, an intelligence/military interrogator and debriefer going by a pseudonym writes about the need for a media reckoning:

What we won't hear is an apology, or an introspective review of the mistakes and professional lapses that brought us all to this point. There will be a reckoning, but that reckoning won't be televised.

Instead, the reckoning will take place in the hearts and minds of the millions of Americans outside the Acela corridor who've been watching this slow-motion train wreck of a self-absorbed, hopelessly biased legacy media beclowning themselves in pursuit of the admiration and legitimacy of their peers, and of the Democratic politicians with whom they share secrets, lies, and tactics in furtherance of their mutual ideological objectives...

[Their] audience saw through the attempts of Reps. Schiff, Eric Swalwell, and Ted Lieu to represent innuendo as evidence, all the while silently urging the journalists hosting them to simply ask them a pertinent follow-up question....

And they knew why.

...

As much as I'd like to close with a quick word of advice for the media, for the Democratic politicians who pushed the treason narrative, and for the Comeys, Brennans, and Clappers, et al. who engineered this debacle, I honestly have no advice to give. It's over. There is no recovery from this.

The reckoning may not be televised, but it will be this: You will no longer be believed.

By the way, all of these posts are worth reading in full. I recommend them all.

Oh, and read this thread by none other than Glen "Ellers" Greenwald explaining to a leftist idiot that the "crazies" at the Federalist got this story right for two years while she and her moronic colleagues she thinks are smart and on the ball got it completely wrong at every juncture and in every single detail.

But trust them -- they're the smart ones! The smart ones who are just always wrong about everything.

But this is Current Year -- intelligence isn't measured by how many things you get right and the general reliability of your analytical judgment.

It's measured by your self-esteem and how smart you feeeeeel you are.

The Morning Rant

—OregonMuse

talking ape.jpg
"So I was watching a CNN roundtable discussion earlier and Brian Stelter said, 'Well, guys, we really screwed the pooch on this one. There was absolutely no collusion between Trump, or for that matter, any other American, and Russia. But none of our viewers would have ever guessed that that might be the case from our coverage. We were mad as hell that Hillary lost and we hated Trump for beating her. We let our partisanship and hatred of Trump completely undermine our competence as journalists. By knowingingly and enthusiastically participating and egging on this time and money-wasting witch-hunt, we've discredited ourselves and our profession. It's going to be hard to repair the damage to our credibilty. We should be servicing the glory holes for quarters in rest stops along the interstate. Compared to what we've been doing for the last two years, that would be honorable work.' And then the camera panned over to John Brennan who said, 'Well, Brian, I agree with everything you've said. But I have no right to get on my high horse about any of this because I'm an utter disgrace to the intelligence community. Hell, I'm lucky I'm not doing 10 years in a federal PMITA prison right now. I can't believe you guys had me on for interviews week after week as if I were some kinda lofty Olympian sage. The reality is, I'm a partisan hack who hates Trump and wants him gone by any means necessary. How about you, Pete?' And Peter Strzok was on the panel, too. And he said, 'John, compared to me, you're a tower of integrity. I'm a lying sh*tstain. I give the word slimy a bad name. Hell, I have to look up to tie Sid Blumenthal's shoelaces. I'm not even good enough to be pond scum. I'm yeast. Everybody knows that. Everybody has always known that. It was obvious from the get-go. Everyone sitting at this table was part of an organized, coordinated coup attempt against a sitting president. We all owe him an apology.' And then I woke up. Dang, I have to ease up on that fermented pineapple just before hitting the sack."

The Morning Report - 3/25/19

—J.J. Sefton

couplonglive.jpg

Good morning kids. Monday and it's official, at least in the real world where facts, logic and reasoning rule. After more than 2 years of work by an army of investigators (many of whom have a burning hatred of the subject of the investigation itself) hundreds of subpoenas issued and witnesses called, Robert Mueller came to the only possible conclusion he could have; President Trump nor anyone associated with him did not collude or conspire in any way, shape or form with Russia or any other government or entity, foreign or domestic, to influence, tamper with or rig the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Period. Full stop.

But this is not news. It's merely confirmation of what we already knew months ago, in that this entire special counsel investigation is the result of a phony dossier cooked up by allies of Clinton and Obama at their behest or even on their orders as a means to utilize the instrumentalities of our national security an law enforcement apparatuses to sabotage the campaign of candidate Trump and then to try and literally overthrow his presidency as well as cover up their crimes and conspiracy. Make no mistake. Robert Mueller is no hero because he knew all of this either at the outset or, if he believed the validity of the dossier, shortly thereafter when its veracity completely evaporated once the revelations of who wrote it and paid for it went public. He was, is and always will be a Deep State elitist operative whose sole allegiance is to others of his ilk and not to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. And when you consider Mueller's and his key shyster/enforcer Andrew Weissmann's corrupt and sordid past in the suborning of perjury via intimidation (see Whitey Bulger, Enron, Ted Stevens), it says something that they couldn't manufacture evidence and suborn false testimony to hang the President with. Of course, Michael Flynn's and Paul Manafort's lives have been ruined and now and for that they should face divine retribution. But for knowingly continuing on with this sham which has done perhaps irreparable damage to an already bruised, battered and bleeding body politic is utterly unforgivable. And yet, the hack rotten apples and shysters in New York's Southern District are going to target the President, his family, his businesses and business associates with what amounts to legalized persecution to destroy them both as retribution for thwarting them as well as to send a warning to anyone else - and by extension anyone who would support that person who dares run against the system.

Continuing in that vein and moving to the other side of the ledger, the Democrat-Left-Media complex is refusing to accept reality and everyone under the sun is claiming that AG Barr is tainted, in a rush to judgement and screw Mueller; there IS evidence of collusion and they are going to continue the investigations. There is a danger in trying to understand the words and motivations of people who I think are bordering on if not crossing the line into delusion. Yes, all of this is political but there is an element here that even those who are purely partisan and theoretically know better have swallowed the propaganda whole and actually believe all of this tripe. I suppose they must, since if they did the honorable thing (and it should not be honorable to do what should be automatic) by conceding that the President has been exonerated, their base would revolt. I mean, if they can't even for one lousy time publicly chastise one of their own for her vile anti-Semitism, an issue that in theory everyone be united on, then what does that say for them and more broadly, for the state of the union?

UPDATE: Adam Schiff-for-Brains and Jerrold Go-Nadler keep insisting that they have all kinds of evidence of collusion. Well, if that's the case, boys, why did you not voluntarily hand over all your files to Mueller? And isn't knowingly withholding this evidence considered "obstruction of justice?"

All that said, there's lots of analysis up top as well as in the first amendment/fake news section with that angle on the story, which really was the story in point of fact.

Moving on to immigration, Chiquita Khruschev is a goddam liar, two more Americans killed by open borders and this notion of illegal immigration at historic lows is a myth that must be exploded.

Democrat Anti-Semitism: "Bro-Fo" trashes pro-Israel protestors while at the same time conspires with Islamic terror groups and Steny Hoyer tries to salvage the Democrat Party at AIPAC yet ignores the boycott of his party's prexy candidates.

Democrat Scandal Sheet: What the hell is Obama's Ukraine ambassador still doing on the job, aside from undermining/sabotaging Trump and Kentucky's Democrat governor gets a merit badge in shielding pedophiles.

Politics: Bloomberg hits Bidet and Beta-Beto for their white privilege bilge, Pam Gellar links the AIPAC boycott to Obama, the Other McCain on Oprah's spiritual guru as a possible dark horse Dem candidate and yet another takedown of Chiquita Khruschev.

Abortion: Pete Butthead-gig thinks men aren't allowed to talk about infanticide because no uterus.

First Amendment and Fake News Fakery: Aside from the Mueller Report links, Project Veritas' investigation of Facebook is called into question, the AP "clarifies" its lie about Ferguson, and more on Ted Koppel's bemoaning the loss of the MFM's total control of what is and is not news and how it's shaped.

Guns: Judge tosses the Chicago suburban "assault weapons" ban, New Zealand is the crisis not being let gone to waste and Washington sheriff refuses to enforce new state gun control laws.

Foreign Desk: This could get lost in the sauce but it is potentially yuuuuge - Russian planes reportedly land in Venezuela with Russian military personnel. Also, Iran is set to nuke up, several more countries follow Trump's lead and move embassies to Jerusalem, a look at Trump's mideast policy and Secretary of State Pompeo urges the Lebanese to reject Hezbollah. Plus... Big Islamic terror attack is foiled in Germany (New Zealand, bitches!), and Daniel Greenfield recalls the horrific slaughter of a beautiful little Jewish girl in Toulouse.

Domestic News: Clarence Thomas talks! Asks first oral arguments question in 3 years. The Left makes a big deal of this by saying it shows he's an idiot or something, but his written opinions say otherwise and bigly. Also, NYExodus is a real thing but sadly the refugees bring their friggin' politics like locusts looking for new crops to destroy.

Healthcare: Infectious diseases are on the rise. Gee, why'z'at? [sarc]

Education: This RedforEd cancer is causing layoffs of school staffs wherever they strike and a miraculous win in California of all places against CAIR Islamic indoctrination in schools.

The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“You can say ‘molested’, but those children, as you heard, say they were thrilled to be there. They [are] both married and they both have children, so it didn’t kill them,” Barbara Streisand

Quote II

I am an Iranian woman who fights for my basic rights under the Islamic regime tyranny and you are all partners of this atrocious crime.
still, We are the ones who pay the price for all the stupidity of this world beebo @Safeword13

Quote III

In country after country, massacres are followed by sweeping changes to gun laws, as logic would dictate. The United States needs to follow these examples and take action to protect Americans from this deadly public health scourge. Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA)

Quote IV

The deep state is by nature cowardly. It does not move unless it feels it can disguise its subterranean efforts or that, if revealed, those efforts will be seen as popular and necessary—as expressed in tell-all book titles such as fired FBI Directors James Comey’s Higher Loyalty or in disgraced Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe’s psychodramatic The Threat. Victor Davis Hanson

Quote V

Now, there are no excuses, or defenses, for what happened in Christchurch. But there is an explanation.

All peoples to some degree resent and resist the movement of outsiders into their space. Some migrants are more difficult than others to assimilate into Western societies. European nations that had not known mass migrations for centuries were especially susceptible to a virulent reaction, a backlash. Patrick J. Buchanan

Quote VI

This held up fine. Trump tried repeatedly to shut down and impede the Russia investigation. I’m proud if my friends and I played even a small part in helping thwart his efforts and those of his allies, and in protecting the investigation and ensuring the integrity of the report.Skipper Bill Bill Kristol

Food Thread: Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em...Otherwise Just Grill!

—CBD

sausage22.jpg

My grill and smoker are no longer covered in snow, so it's time to ponder the first attempt of the year....smoked pork butt, pork ribs, beef ribs, smoked sausage, smoked leg of lamb (try it...it's great!), and one I am going to try this year...smoked beef clod (shoulder). The clod is a huge cut, so I will probably chicken out and try a smaller chunk.

But it doesn't really matter what goes on the grill or smoker...there is something about cooking over coals (or gas...I'm not a Luddite) that is pleasurable in an uncomplicated way. I think the smoker is the biggest lure, because once the meat goes on, that's it! No poking or prodding or flipping or basting or any of the many things we do when fussing with food. Smoking is a matter of faith. Keep the temperature where you want it (low and slow baby...low and slow!), make sure your meat has been seasoned correctly, and then put your trust in the low-temperature combustion products of wood and charcoal. No peeking and prodding, no constant stirring and tasting. It's just you against the collagen, and may the best man win.*

As you may have noticed (check the photo up top), I am dreaming of grilled sausages. That's going to be the first outdoor event at Chez Dildo, a casual late afternoon meal of beer, burgers and some of those great sausages from my local maker. I know that some of you swear by brats poached in beer, but I prefer them grilled. Yes, I am an iconoclast, but try it, you'll like it.

As for the burgers? I think small ones (about four-five ounces) on potato rolls is the best combination. It's not the Platonic ideal of a burger, and it's tough to get a nice char without overcooking them, but the size is important because of course you'll want at least one burger and one sausage. And potato salad. And beer. And bourbon...don't forget the bourbon while you are setting up the grill.

*What? No...chicks don't smoke meat! That's just silly talk.

"TOTAL VINDICATION:" Mueller Report Summary Finds No Evidence That Anyone In Trump Campaign or Administration Conspired With, Colluded With, or Coordinated With Russia
In Fact, "NO US PERSON" So Conspired, Either

—Ace of Spades

They're reading the summary on FoxNews right now, just released.

Unfortunately, the report then says that they did not evaluate, at all, whether he obstructed justice by firing Comey and leaves that open for the AG to decide. The Democrats and media and NeverTrump conspiracy theorists will seize on this.

The AG has announced that he and Deputy AG Rosenstein have considered the issue and have decided that there is no case for obstruction of justice, but Mueller has deliberately left this open to give his Democrat and media pals room to rumble.

FOID (Firearm Owners Identification Card) Ruled Unconstitutional In Illinois

—CBD

Well, this should be interesting! Apparently a judge doesn't think that it is appropriate for the state to tax and regulate our rights protected by the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution.

People v. Brown - FOID ruled unconstitutional in IL District Court

Of course Illinois is appealing, and I assume that some judge or judges will eventually find in the state's favor, but if this goes to the United States Supreme Court we have a shot at winning.

Ignoring the patently offensive idea of an FOID, what's the point? Most purchases include an NICS and a 4473, so it's just typical government harassment. And since New Jersey is making noises about jacking up the fees for its own FOID, and requiring regular reapplication (instead of the current lifetime card), I have a vested interest in this case.

The Impossibility Of Repealing The Law Of Unintended Consequences

—CBD

Here are some interesting data on the actual consequences of plastic bans. The author suggests some ridiculous remedies (fees instead of bans), but at least she is working from actual facts, instead of touchy-feely "IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN AND THE WHALES!" emotive crap.

Plastic bag bans can backfire if consumers just use other plastics instead

Governments are increasingly banning the use of plastic products, such as carryout bags, straws, utensils and microbeads. The goal is to reduce the amount of plastic going into landfills and waterways. And the logic is that banning something should make it less abundant.

However, this logic falls short if people actually reuse those items instead of buying new ones. For example, so-called "single-use" plastic carryout bags can have a multitude of unseen second lives - as trash bin liners, dog poop bags and storage receptacles.

A U.K. government study calculated that a shopper would need to reuse a cotton carryout bag 131 times to reduce its global warming potential - its expected total contribution to climate change - below that of plastic carryout bags used once to carry newly purchased goods. To have less impact on the climate than plastic carryout bags also reused as trash bags, consumers would need to use the cotton bag 327 times.

I have a wild idea! Let the free market decide how to deal with the bag issue, and restrict government to simply enforcing the laws against littering.

Good morning to all you 'rons, 'ettes, lurkers, and lurkettes, wine moms, frat bros, and everybody who's holding your beer. Welcome once again to the stately, prestigious, internationally acclaimed and high-class Sunday Morning Book Thread, a weekly compendium of reviews, observations, snark, and a continuing conversation on books, reading, writing, and publishing by escaped oafs who follow words with their fingers and whose lips move as they read. Unlike other AoSHQ comment threads, the Sunday Morning Book Thread is so hoity-toity, pants are required. Even if it's these pants, which really shouldn't be worn by anyone, not even Frank.

Pic Note

Oxford University has a number of libraries, but I don't know which one this is. It is an unlabeled photo I got it from this page here. If I had to guess, I'd say we're looking at a reading room in the Bodleian Library, but I'm not certain.

Today!

Today is the AoSHQ Sunday Morning Book Thread International De-Lurk Day. I would like to extend a laurel and hearty handshake to all of you lurkers and lurkettes who are brave enough to post your reviews.

The Saturday Night Joke

Doug Pender lived all his life in the Florida Keys and is on his deathbed and knows
the end is near. His nurse, his wife, his daughter and two sons, are with him.

He asks for two witnesses to be present and a camcorder be in place
to record his last wishes, and when all is ready he begins to speak:

"My son, Bernie, I want you to take the Ocean Reef houses."

"My daughter Sybil, you take the apartments between mile markers 100 and Tavernier."

"My son, Jamie, I want you to take the offices over in the Marathon Government Center."

"Sarah, my dear wife, please take all the residential buildings on the bay side on Blackwater Sound."

The nurse and witnesses are blown away as they did not realize his extensive holdings, and as
Doug slips away, the nurse says,

"Mrs. Pender, your husband must have been such a hard-working man to have accumulated all this property."

The wife replies, "The asshole had a paper route!"

Alita: Battle Angel

My interest in seeing this film was less than zero and less than Less Than Zero—the grimy and unlikely screen version of Brett Easton Ellis' novel with Andrew McCarthy, Jami Gertz and Robert Downey, Jr. I mean, the poster presents the most generic-looking CGI manga-inspired female action hero with freaky-big eyes doing fighty stuff in a blandly porridge-y 2019 way. And the fact that it was directed by Robert Rodriguez (when I discovered that) made it even worse to my mind: Rodriguez is often cheesy, but seldom bland.

Spring has sprung! At least in Kansas, where Don visited the botanical garden.

Winter hung on like the respiratory crud that was going around earlier this year, but it looks like it's finally gone. It won't officially be spring until the first tornado watch, but I did find a little color on my visit to the botanical garden this past weekend.

Thread before the Gardening Thread, Censored [KT]

—Open Blogger

Serving your mid-day open thread needs

Good morning! I expect that there will be further reactions to the Mueller report today, but all I am going to say, along with Tom Fitton, is that Hillary Clinton lost again last night. Feel free to add your own comments and reactions from the news as they come in. This is an open thread.

I thought I would touch on another subject that has been highlighted by the horrible attack in Christchurch, namely censorship and suppression of speech.

On Thursday, Ace posted a piece on President Trump's executive order re-affirming that colleges must defend the right to free speech or lose federal grants.

This order does not really order schools to do more than they're already supposed to be doing -- but it is a shot across the bow that the law will be actually followed going forward, and noncompliant schools will be punished as the law provides, and that "compliance" may be interpreted more strictly than it has in the past.

Because this is America. Not Britain, where a journalist who "misgenders" someone may be guilty of a crime. Speaking of misgendering, Jordan Peterson has been excluded from Cambridge because they have a policy of inclusion. As far as I can tell, this means that they are not willing to discuss his opposition to laws or policies forcing people to use the "preferred pronouns" of anyone who objects to being addressed by obvious pronouns suggested by their appearance, such as "he" and "she".

It is not quite clear to me why Peterson's book has been banned by a leading bookstore in New Zealand following the attack on Muslims in Christchurch. Is it a horrible thing for prospective mass murderers to clean their rooms? Reactions to their vaguely justified move have prompted the bookstore to disappear from Facebook and Twitter.

New Zealand has also banned the terrorist's manifesto, which seems less goofy. You don't want to go around glorifying the guy in the press, like, say, Rolling Stone glorifies selected Islamist terrorists. But this also makes it impossible to know that the killer was an eco-fascist. I was also interested to learn of his admiration for the Chinese government.

Comedy Central suppresses speech another way

One way Comedy Central produces its "comedy" is by interviewing people, then editing their words, even to the extent of cutting and pasting questions and answers so that the answer to question A is seen after question B. A Jewish Youtube guy from Australia recently turned the tables on one of their hosts, Jim Jeffries, by setting down his phone to record the interview:

Tucker Carlson: The Media Figures Who Pushed This Soon-to-be-Disproved Sham Collusion Conspiracy Theory Should be "Punished"
Mollie Hemingway on Tucker Now

—Ace of Spades

This is from last night. It applies with even more force today.

Now, by "punished," he does not mean "indicted," as he clarifies. He means "publicly shamed" and "forced to apologize."

I normally wouldn't even agree with that... except I remember the left demanding "accountability" from pundits who made erroneous claims and false predictions about the Iraq War. And there was a lot of that in the media.

So: Should conspiracy theorists pushing a falsehood that undermines trust in the US democratic system be similarly required to come to a reckoning?

Answer: No. They control the message, and that means they control the questions that may be asked, and the criticisms that may be lodged.

You don't have to respond to a question or criticism you've suppressed so much that the half of the country you depend on for support never even hears of it.

Carlson also asks, rhetorically: If people on the right had claimed, without evidence, that Barack Obama was colluding with Iran for three years, would they be allowed on any media platform?

He says that's rhetorical. They wouldn't be -- unless they offered a groveling apology to King Barky the Wonderdog.

Definitely watch the opening of last night's show.

Take care! Have a nice weekend!

90 minutes away from entering the official Day 7 of the fast, and no problems!

Oh, and it's weird to put up Tucker from last night when you're probably watching Tucker now -- and Mollie's on now. But check this vid out later, just the first 8-10 minutes.

Can We Stop This Avenue of Conspiracy Theorycrafting Now?

Tucker Carlson Worries About Brian "Tater" Stelter's Hunger Pangs; Sends Him a Dozen Jelly Donuts

—Ace of Spades

What a mensch!

Sweet guy. He's made of nothin' but love.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson sent CNN Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter a dozen jelly donuts. Stelter received them Wednesday in New York, but so far has not reached out to Carlson in response. Sources tell The Mirror that Stelter was thrilled to get the delicate pastries but agitated and confused by the gesture. He told a number of people he had no idea what the point was.

Was it a peace offering? Maybe. It’s hard to get inside anyone's brain or stomach. But what is certain is that there are more jelly donuts on Stelter's horizon. From what I'm told, as many as he needs.

So jelly donuts every day?

The message might be about Brian Stelter's jelly-like core -- he's a bought-and-paid-for Company Man who doesn't dare say anything critical about his leftwing media allies or the Democrat Party's cherished narratives.

Also, a less-obvious message might be that Brian Stelter is super-fat and needs to change the pictures he uses for social media to pictures taken within 10 of his current BMI measurement.

I mean, seriously: It's one thing for an aging Hollywood starlet to use publicity pictures of herself as a younger woman, but Stelter is supposed a journalist, and he insists on using pictures of himself from 10 years and 70 pounds ago.

The donuts came from Dunkin' Donuts. The box was signed with a Sharpie: "Brian! Enjoy. All best, Tucker Carlson."

Tater's got a big, wide Smilex-gas Joker mouth. That boy looks like he could suck the chrome off a robot-dick.

Old Post: Actually, all of the best donuts are not donuts.

The Dud Bombshell, Continued

—Ace of Spades

I've added a bunch in the sidebar.

Here's some spin:

Old Spin: Mueller's going to prove Trump is guilty of colluding with a hostile foreign power

New Spin: the real story here is that Mueller performed creditably

Old Spin: The president is a traitor. We know this. We don't need to wait for evidence.

New Spin: Now that it's proven the president is not a traitor, don't YOU all owe apologies to Robert Mueller for smearing his name?

Old Spin: Trump and Jared and Don Jr. and a host of other conspirators colluded with Russia

New Spin: the lack of any new indictments, or any indictments mentioning conspiracy with Russia, probably just means that Trump isn't being indicted because he's a sitting president. I guess he conspired with Russia completely alone! "We'll see" what evidence our conspiracy theory may uncover in the future.

Flounder adds:

Some old spin/new spin I heard round about Feb., when they started downplaying this:

Old Spin: Muh Russia!

New Spin: Nah brah. I never really thought there was any Russian collusion.

YUP! That was a really egregious gear-grinding reversal. I forgot about that flip-flop. They have so many.

Flashback: Do you remember how often the walls were closing in on Trump or all the times the wheels were coming off?

Trump Appoints Conservative Supporter Stephen Moore to Fed Board; Moore Calls The Fed "The Swamp" And Has Said "Fire the Fed"

—Ace of Spades

This is the Club for Growth guy.

Moore has long been a supporter of Trump, including throughout the 2016 presidential election. He has written approvingly of the president’s criticisms of the Federal Reserve.

"I believe the people on the Federal Reserve Board should be thrown out for economic malpractice," he said in December.

Moore also spoke disapprovingly of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, noting, "I always thought he was a bad choice. He's been a Fed guy for many years. Donald Trump wanted to drain the swamp. The Fed is the swamp."

He also authored a recent op-ed titled, "Fire the Fed" in which he likened Powell to a misguided pilot who lost his way.

I was told Trump would be appointing his Democrat liberal sister to all of these positions.

I was told this by people who pretend to be geniuses on Twitter and who tell me they're the Ones Who Really Understand Politics and Reality and Stuff.

The left is trying to Education Shame Moore -- I mean, he "only" has a Master's Degree in Economics.

So what? Kessler seems to want to imply that most Fed chairmen are Nobel Memorial Prize winners (something I frankly never heard of before), but of course that's silly. He's talking about one guy that the GOP blocked, not on education grounds, I'm thinking, but for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Trump is boasting, as he does, about last year's 3.1% growth, which he points out is the best yearly growth in 14 years.

But he thinks it could have been better -- that it could have hit 4%, which is his goal -- if the Fed had stopped its aggressive rate-raising sooner.

That is why he wants an ally who thinks like him on the Fed's board, of course.

Southern "Poverty" Law Center Insiders: The SPLC Is a "Highly Profitable Scam"

—Ace of Spades

You don't say.

Peter Hanson:

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is a "highly profitable scam" that "never lived up to the values it espoused," according to former SPLC staffer Bob Moser.

The New Yorker on Thursday published a scathing essay from Moser, now a Rolling Stone reporter, accusing the left-wing non-profit of "ripping off donors" while turning a blind eye to sexual harassment and racial discrimination within its own ranks.

The SPLC fired co-founder Morris Dees on March 13 over unspecified conduct issues.

The SPLC announced Dees' firing after roughly two dozen SPLC employees previously signed a letter to the organization’s leadership expressing their alarm at "allegations of mistreatment, sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism," The Los Angeles Times reported.

"The firing of Dees has flushed up all the uncomfortable questions again. Were we complicit, by taking our paychecks and staying silent, in ripping off donors on behalf of an organization that never lived up to the values it espoused? Did we enable racial discrimination and sexual harassment by failing to speak out?" Moser asked in his article.

One of Moser's former colleagues answered in the affirmative.

"Of course we did," she told Moser. "It's shameful, but when you’re there you kind of end up accepting things. I never even considered speaking out when things happened to me! It doesn’t feel good to recognize that. I was so into the work, and so motivated by it, I kind of shrugged off what was going on."

A spokesman for the SPLC did not return an email seeking comment on Moser's article.

A racist, sexist, sexual-harassment organization presumes to lecture us about racism, sexism, and hate.

We're in 1984 now.

The Mueller Dud Update: I missed this, this morning. (Go figure.)

The DOJ says the Mueller report will not contain any derogatory information about anyone not charged in the case.

That means that the report will not just throw a lot of dirt that can't be proven at Trump, absent any crime.

Which is what Democrats and NeverTrumpers have been praying for, if only to give them some intellectual cover for pushing this conspiracy theory for three years.

Ahoy! Bill Kristol's Cvcks-Seeking-Bulls Newsletter Now Just Attacking Conservatives With The Left's Favorite Smear -- "Racist"
Bill Kristol Completes His Transition to David Brock

—Ace of Spades

Now Officially Racist, according to the misogynistic, antisemitism-excusing relentless troll (almost as if he's getting paid for it!) "UrbanAchievr": Jesse Kelly, Victor Davis Hanson, and Kurt Schlichter.

All for committing the Thoughtcrime of wondering whether or not this nation can -- or even should -- hold together as a single "united" states of America, or amicably split.

That's racist now. See, the Civil War was about slavery so any new thinking about whether America is united or devolving into a low-level cool civil war is also racist, Because Things Remind Dum-Dums of Other Things.

Like, for example, Kurt's speculative fiction about a future civil war in America is just like the Turner Diaries, Because Things Remind Dum-Dums of Other Things.

But the real slime is directed at the guy they really hate and fear: Kurt Schlichter. Because Kurt knows what they are and isn't afraid to call them out in public on it and they know he’s right.

What do they use for the evidence that Kurt is influenced by the alt-right? Kurt has written a series of dystopian action/thriller novels chronicling a civil war between an oppressive government collapsing beneath the weight of its own contradictions and a popular insurrection to restore freedom. And they claim that those books are exactly like the Turner Diaries, a book that served as Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh's inspiration...

This Bulwark post isn't serious, it is spank material for self-described true conservatives who never seem to have the time to worry about what the left is doing but a surfeit if time to tell the rest of us when it is appropriate to wear MAGA hats and what we must believe in order to be true conservatives.

HBO's series based on the Philip K. Dick book The Man in the High Castle also postulates a future dystopian America divided into sections and plagued by internal civil war.

Is that also alt-right? Or "racist"?

The future dystopia story is one of the absolute hottest premises in current fiction, and, I don't want to SPOIL anything here, but they all feature a divided, often tyrannical US which is created to stand-in for whatever particular political evil the author wishes to highlight.

All alt-right? All "racist"?

Literally hundreds of leftists have written books featuring a divided US, turned into a hellhole by conservative tyrants. Now one guy writes a book with the same basic notion in play, except the hellscape was created by a tyrannical leftist government.

The mysogynistic, antisemitism-excusing UrbanAchievr concludes: This one book is racist and just like the Turner Diaries.

This fellow-traveler is just incorporating his fellow leftist's Iron Rule: It's different when we do it; conservatives are to be treated completely differently with malign assumptions and evidence-free accusations, because, fundamentally, They Are Not Human.

Bill Kristol was so proud of today's trolling that he rushed to promote it as Conserving Conservatism on his preferred medium of Twitter (does he actually write anything real any more? Apart from requests for money from his leftwing backers?), and of course Jonathan Last's wife rushed out to second him.

I mentioned this last week, I think, but it's worth again noting that The Bulwark is now running articles telling us we shouldn't be worried about socialism:

Now that's what I call Conserving Conservatism.

BTW, Kurt Schlichter is an Army Colonel who actually volunteered to fight the wars the neocon chickenhawks jerk themselves off about.

Also, he's filling in on the Hugh Hewitt show next week. You know, Hugh Hewitt, noted racist insurrectionist. This might be why they chose to run this Pierre Omidyar/David Brock hit now, to pressure Hewitt to cancel or to set Hewitt up for their next round of "making people uncomfortable at dinner parties."

Remember, their stated mission now is just to "taint" people and smear them for not joining them in supporting Democrats.

Politico: Democrats Prepare Themselves for a "Dud" Mueller Report; Expect There to Be No More Indictments

—Ace of Spades

Remember, when evaluating your preferred pundits, which ones flagged this as a baseless conspiracy theory early and which have been breathlessly pushing it as the Rosetta Stone of impeachment.

WHY MUELLER IS ONLY THE BEGINNING... IF YOU TALK TO CAPITOL HILL DEMOCRATS PRIVATELY, you will hear something surprising about what they expect from ROBERT MUELLER: Many of them expect absolutely nothing. Several top Democratic lawmakers and aides tell us privately that they are certain the report will be a dud.

IF THAT'S THE CASE, the White House will immediately make the argument that it’s time for Congress to shutter its investigations into the president. But Democratic probes into PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP are going to drag on regardless of the Mueller report. The committees are looking into things that have nothing to do with Russian interference -- the president's company, security clearances, handling of classified information, decision-making in the White House and Cabinet scandals, for example.

The Democrats plan to argue that if Mueller found absolutely nothing that just proves that they need to do All the Investigations.

Via Twitchy, when this story was fed over Mika Brzezinski's teleprompter, she seemed like she'd been slapped in the face with a tuna as she read the horrible news that there would be no more indictments.

Update: Katy Tur dismisses the Mueller report, when she's told the Mueller report is expected to be a "nothingburger." She basically then says "Oh what does that guy know anyway."

'Let’s just put up on the screen everybody who’s already been found guilty or indicted in the Mueller investigation. Lots of faces, lots of pleas, and lots of indictments," Tur stated, as a graphic of individuals connected to Trump who have been indicted appeared including Michael Flynn, Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort.

"They've already come up with quite a bit, regardless of whether there or not there is direct collusion or conspiracy found between Donald Trump or his campaign and the Russians," she added.

So Trump's guilty if there's evidence, and he's guilty if there's no evidence.

Big League Politics: Man Anonymously Accuses CNN-Curious FoxNews Host Shep Smith of Sexually Assaulting Him While He Was Asleep in 2004

—Ace of Spades

It's an anonymous allegation from 15 years ago.

Not sure what to make of it. Audio of his claim at the link; here are some transcripted parts.

"I wake up, and Shepard is on top of me, like, in a towel or a bathrobe. And he's got his tongue down my throat and his hands all over me. Completely uninvited. I mean, I gave him no signal. There was nothing," John Doe #1 says in the interview -- excerpts of which are presented in audio form above.

..

"I pushed him off. I was like, 'Dude what are you doing?' And he's like, 'what you don't like it?' There was like this, kind of like No!, and he kept going, he kept pushing. Like, pushing his hands on all these spots," John Doe #1 said.

"He was just on top of me," John Doe #1 said, calling the experience "definitely shocking." John Doe #1 noted that "he finally stopped, but it took a lot of -- it wasn't just an immediate no, and then everything was like, so sorry."

John Doe #1 said that Shep Smith lunged at him "three or four more times" after the initial attack.

Fox News has not responded to a request for comment. The claimant did not provide any outside corroborating evidence, or at least Big League Politics doesn't note any.

I don't know how far we want to go down the #MeToo rabbit-hole with dated allegations.

Though... of course you know my rooting interest here.

Big League Politics previously brought us the scoop about Ralph Northam's blackface, so they're not unreliable. I just don't know if this guy has anything to back up his word apart from his word.

She now says she's "profoundly sorry" for defending child-rape as just a guy doin' guy-stuff. But she clearly meant every damn word she said, and it's clear she believes that celebrities are above the laws of God and man, like... well, rather like an aristocracy of Satan-sworn vampires, really, entitled by their status to prey upon mere humans.
Bloomberg: Trump's I-Told-You-So Moment Rattles Democrats
It's a new day in Washington, as Democrats' hopes that Robert Mueller would deliver a body blow to Donald Trump have evaporated. ... Democrats, who had long anticipated Mueller’s report would provide enough ammunition to politically handicap the president, if not impeach him, now find themselves in perilous territory.

Lindsey Graham will Ask AG Barr To Appoint a New Special Counsel to Investigate How the DOJ, FBI, and IC Leaders Cooked up the Russia Hoax
I watched this press conference but missed him saying this particular thing. Can't wait to see Fake Jake arguing that we can't have the government paralyzed due to scrutiny by a Special Counsel!!!
Al Veshi says his "head is going to explode" when he hears his pal Michael Avenatti is being arrested
Interesting: The complaint mentions an unidentified lawyer as "Attorney #1." This man (I think) is also referred to as CC#1, which the legal analyst says means "cooperating co-conspirator." I can't even come close to sure on this but I am taking this as additional suggestive evidence that Mark Geragos is ratting on his partner Avenatti to get out of a prosecution.
By the way, Avenatti faces a total of 107 years, but with his typical behavior, he thinks he can extend that to 321.
More: Porn star model participant Stormy Daniels kicks Avenatti when he's down, saying that she's not surprised to hear he's being charged, knowing about him what she knows now
Say, does AVN have actual Participation Trophies?
3 Kristol got all the Weekly Standard types to go full No Trump, even when it meant their personal economic destruction. Then the Omydar life raft appeared, but only some of the WS writers could climb on board. Everyone kept drinking the NeverTrump Kool-aid though, and now (as the Bullshitwark starts running out of cash) what will happen? Posted by: Huck Follywood, righteous in his wrath

I don't know. They should start thinking about it, though. There is not really any place for a "Conservative Critic of Conservatism" who is plainly no longer a conservative and who donates to and endorses Democrats. Or, if there is a place, there's just one place, and that spot is occupied by Bill Kristol.
What the rest of them will do, I honestly have no idea. I don't think the leftwing media is willing to bring on former (weak, liberal) Republicans, and their prospects in the actual conservative media are down to near-zero.

Shrug. Well, one good thing at least -- they'll finally have an actual encounter with those Market Forces they've admired from afar for so long while being protected from market forces by billionaire benefactors! They'll soon find that Market Forces are rather -- nah, I don't want to spoil the surprise, let it just be a surprise for them.

The NeverTrumper Split: Check Out This Semi-Brutal Exchange Between Recovering NeverTrumper Sohrab Ahmari and Shannon Last to See the End of the Pleasantries
The NeverTrumpers are like SJWs in that they constantly Mau-Mau you into joining them in their most extreme stances (such as full-throatedly supporting Democrats, or goofing on the pro-life movement to own the cons). If you're 80% with them and 20% not, then you're a Traitor who must be brought into full compliance with the NT SJW hive-mind.
While this might work on the very weak of character, the most herdlike people, it will not work on anyone else, and will drive them far away, and with a level of bitterness, too.
I mean, for God's sake, they've been trying to Mau-Mau SuperCuck Seth Mandel into being more of a cuck! Even Seth Mandel has too many noncucklike tendencies for them to bear!
Michael Avenatti: WINNING!
And: It's behind a paywall now, but the Wall Street Journal reports: According to the complaint filed in New York, Mr. Avenatti and Mr. Geragos, the alleged co-conspirator, met with lawyers for Nike in New York on March 19 and threatened to release damaging information unless the company agreed to pay the two lawyers millions of dollars and another $1.5 million to the client Avenatti claimed to represent. So Geragos is a co-conspirator! And yet not arrested, I don't think. I wonder what he did to avoid arrest...
The Bluecheckmark League of Geniuses Are, As Usual, All Repeating the Same Meme and Congratulating Themselves for Being Original Writers
They're all saying "What if the real Mueller Report was the friends we made along the way?," which is some idiotic Young Adult Fiction (of course) trope where the hero doesn't find the object of his quest but concludes, happily, that the real prize was the friends he made along the way. They're all saying the exact same thing, all luxurating in the warm bath of groupthink and conformity, and once again all affecting a childish persona, which I don't think is that far off of their actual callow, immature, bablylike personas. But amped up a little for twitter purposes.

Everyone remembers Flock of Seagull's "I Ran," and many people know "Space Age Love Song," even if they don't know they know it, or know the name, or know it's Flock of Seagulls. But I'll bet very few remember Flock of Seagulls' last gasp at commercial relevance, this single from their second album. It's a good song. Not as good as the first two, but worth a listen.
Here's a phrase I want to #MakeHappen like "Fetch" never did but it's going to take some heavy-lifting help from you guys: "Make mock of." Do you make mock of me? Chris Matthews said some dumb fat shit and we made mock of him.
That and "scamper," of course
Question Everyone Should Ask Fake Jake and the Rest of the Gang Who Couldn't Report Straight: When Trump said 240+ times that there was "no collusion," was he telling the truth?
They will evade. They don't want to brand themselves as conspiracy theorists and just straight-up admit that facts and evidence mean nothing to them, just their sacred good-for-clicks conspiracy theory, but they also cannot rebuke their God of Conspiracies. Make them answer. Keep asking until it becomes uncomfortable for them to continue evading.
#Ahoy! Bill Kristol tweets:
"Bliss is it in this dawn to be alive,
"But to be on Twitter is very heaven!"

Definitely not a fat old ineffectual cuck who's addicted to the instant validation he gets from tweets. Say, when's the last time you actually wrote something that wasn't a tweet or a fundraising appeal, Kap'n Bill?
Meanwhile, Ol' 3-Wives Chuck is arguing that just because there's no evidence and no case doesn't mean you're innocent. Say, aren't these guys posing as "Republicans for the Rule of Law"? Is the official position of "Republicans for the Rule of Law" is that no conviction, no charge, not even any evidence is needed to sustain a charge -- all that's needed is for the Correctly-Connected People to lodge an accusation?
Why yes -- that is their opinion.

As Predicted, Sad Lonely David French Is Now At The "Flirt-Fight Homoerotically With Other Cucks" Stage of Grief
A Friend Jokes: "Is Yoda sandwich?"
Is corndog pastry? Is taco sandwich? Is clam chowder pudding? General Grievous was the real hero of Revenge of the Sith. Dogs are cute and nice. Die Hard is also a Hannukah movie. Dorothy was real villain of Wizard of Oz.
Please please please someone validate me! I'm not a hot Instagram chick who can get her daily validation by putting up a boob-shot; I can only get it by getting into really homoerotic flirt-fights and repeating the same dull memes from 2002 and hoping other sad men pretend I'm witty for merely remembering old memes.
I endorse this reply.
Huh -- New memes. What a concept. Wonder if it'll catch on.
Update: Sad Failure Jonah Goldberg took off from his busy day of fending off venture capital investors to join in the frivolities and Twitticisms. "Febreeze are sandwich," a friend jokes.
Day Nine! And I feel fine. Though hunger has returned. That might be because I'm stoking the hunger reaction by looking up tasty things to eat post-fast. My current food obsession is Sabrett hot dogs and sauerkraut, which I haven't had in a while. I've searched for the best way to cook them (boiling them in a deep frying pan, people on the internet claim).
By the way, when you're hungry, man alive do Applebee's commercials make their food look delicious.
